No Oscar for Jasmila Zbanic’s ‘Quo Vadis, Aida?’

Danish film ‘Another Round’ by Thomas Vinterberg won the 93th Academy Award early Monday morning, beating Jasmila Zbanic’s Bosnian war drama ‘Quo Vadis, Aida?’

The Danish film also beat Romanian’s ‘Collective,’ Tunisia’s ‘The man who sold is skin’ and Hong Kong’s ‘Better Days.’

Zbanic’s war drama about a female U.N. interpreter’s desperate efforts to save her family during the 1995 genocide in the east Bosnian town of Srebrenica was the second Bosnian movie to be nominated for the Oscar. Danis Tanovic took the award home for his “No Man’s Land” in 2002.
