American e-commerce giant Amazon which in recent years also expanded into cloud computing and streaming, is looking to hire 55,000 workers globally for corporate jobs as well as jobs in robotics, research, and engineering, Croatian state agency Hina reported on Thursday, citing international media.

About 40,000 jobs will be in the US, with 2,500 in the UK and the remainder mostly in India, Germany and Japan, the BBC reported on Wednesday.

Croatia is also included in Amazon’s plans, with the company planning on opening an office in Zagreb employing 15 IT specialists for cloud computing maintenance and management in Croatia.

Last October, Amazon and the Croatian state postal service HP signed an agreement on the delivery of parcels and logistic support in Croatia.
