A new decision by the Slovenian government changes the border-crossing regime during the epidemic, so now daily cross-border commuting workers will also have to show a negative test for coronavirus, it was said on Thursday.
The new rule also applies to persons coming to Slovenia for health services, to help a family member or to maintain their property, as well as to some other categories, Slovenian media outlets reported.
Daily cross-border commuters working in one of member states of the European Union or some other Schengen country can enter Slovenia by presenting a negative test for coronavirus not older than seven days. Thus, a test performed in an EU or Schengen Area country is valid, it is said in the decision made by the Slovenian government. The new rule will enter into force after its publication in the official gazette. The decision will be subject to reconsideration on a weekly basis.
The new rules especially affect daily commuters from Croatia, thousands of whom work in Slovenia.
