Croatian President Zoran Milanovic, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic have extended greetings on Tuesday on the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, to the head of the Muslim community in Croatia, Mufti Aziz Hasanovic, and all Croatian citizens of the Islamic faith.
“Eid al-Adha, or Kurban Bayram, is a holiday of sacrifice, love and care for one’s loved ones. The celebration of that great holiday is also an opportunity to further promote understanding between people in the common desire to develop a culture of dialogue and mutual respect,” President Milanovic said.
Prime Minister Plenkovic wished all the Croatians of Islamic faith days be filled with peace, health and joy.
“May this time of sacrifice give you inspiration and strength to overcome the challenges and tests ahead,” the Prime Minister said.
“May Kurban Bayram, as the holiday of sacrifice and love for one’s neighbour, be an occasion for spiritual renewal through prayer, mercy, understanding and togetherness,” Parliament Speaker Jandrokovic said.
Mutual respect and acknowledgment of differences guarantee the building of a society of tolerance and trust, and the freedom of religion of every individual enriches the diversity of religious and cultural identity, he said.
