Croatian airports handled 252,000 passengers in January, up by 15.4 percent from the same month in 2017, state statistics bureau reported on Friday (March 23).
The busiest airport in passenger traffic was Zagreb Airport, with 191,000 passengers, or 13.4 percent up year-on-year, followed by Split Airport at 32,000, or 10.4 up from the same month the year before, and Dubrovnik Airport with 22,000 passengers, an increase of 16 percent.
Five smaller airports serving Osijek, Pula, Zadar, Rijeka and Mali Lošinj had some 7,200 passengers combined.
By country of origin, the biggest group of incoming passengers were Germans (71,000 or 21.7 up from the same month last year) followed by the French (14,300, or up by 21.6 percent) and the Dutch (12,300, or 4.9 percent up).
Cargo traffic also increased in January, to 821 tonnes, or 44.8 percent up year-on-year.
