Urgent meeting of ruling coalition to be held on Friday

The Serb minority MP, Milorad Pupovac, requested on Thursday an urgent meeting of the ruling coalition to discuss the Deputy Prime Minister, Martina Dalic’s, leaked emails on Agrokor.

“After yesterday’s emails it is evident that an emergency session of the ruling coalition is needed. It is also clear that the coalition can not, and should not, bear the burden od something which neither is, nor should it be its burden,” the leader of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), Milorad Pupovac said today to the Jutarnji List Daily.

Pupovac, a coalition partner of the ruling centre-right party, Croatian Democratic Union’s (HDZ), added that the positive results of the Agrokor crisis’ state management should not be jeopardised.

“The process of finalising the agreement should not be jeopardised by the ways in which certain legal solutions for the crisis were found,” he said.

The state-appointed crisis management of the Agrokor conglomerate is in the process of finalising an agreement with the company’s creditors. The deadline for the agreement is July 10.

The requested meeting, Pupovac told N1, will take place on Friday.

Pupovac said he found it understandable that the Prime Minister would protect members of his government.

“If someone is the leader of a team, it is clear he must protect the team. It is perfectly reasonable that, in the case of difficulties, that he would have a discussion with the team’s supporters, in this case the ruling coalition, about what casts a shadow on the results, the successes. We expect that from the Prime Minister,” Pupovac said.

He added that the Prime Minister would certainly take into consideration the initiative of his coalition partners, including SDSS.

“The meeting of the coalition was planned anyway, and this just is one more reason to organise it as soon as possible,” he said.
