The Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic, received on Friday the Deputy Chairwoman of the Ukrainian Parliament, Iryna Herashchenko, and said that Croatia strongly supported Ukraine's territorial integrity, as well as its path to the European Union.
Herashchenko briefed Plenkovic, who is the former head of the EU Parliament’s delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, on the current security and political situation in Ukraine, as well as the future Ukrainian priorities, said the press release from the government.
She said that Ukraine would continue with the implementation of the European reforms as well as the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, which came into effect in September last year.
Under the Agreement, the parties (EU, Euratom, Ukraine and EU28) committed to co-operate on matters of economic policy, legislation, and regulation across a broad range of areas, including equal rights for workers, steps towards visa-free movement of people, the exchange of information and staff in the area of justice, the modernisation of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and access to the European Investment Bank.
The Prime Minister said that Croatia will continue to support Ukraine in the EU and assist with its path to accession.
The two parties agreed that Croatia would secure additional assistance to Ukraine by providing specialist medical experts needed by the population suffering from war related trauma, as well as organising recovery in Croatia for Ukrainian children.
Plenkovic also said he was pleased with the improvements in trade and energy cooperation between Croatia and Ukraine.
