Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, who is on a two-day visit to Portugal, will visit the Sanctuary of Fatima on Saturday, on the 101st anniversary of the Fourth Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima.

“I am looking forward to that, the anniversary falls on May 13, so we will be there to attend the mass and procession until after the midnight. I will certainly pray for my homeland,” said Grabar-Kitarovic in Lisbon prior to the departure to the sanctuary.

Fatima, a place located some 100 kilometres from Lisbon, is one of the well-known Catholic Marian shrines in Europe, where three local shepherds reported the apparition in 1917.

Grabar-Kitarovic, the first President of Croatia who paid an official visit to Portugal after Croatia’s independence, assessed the relations between the two countries as excellent.
