The Tourism Minister, Gari Capelli, announced on Tuesday that this year’s Days of Croatian Tourism (DHT) will be held in the town of Hvar, located on the central Dalmatian island with the same name.
DHT is an annual event, organised by the national tourist board and the Tourism Ministry, which brings together workers in the tourist sector. It is the largest such event in the country, involving meetings, presentations and conferences, as well as a televised award ceremony which recognises individuals, companies, and destinations which achieved the best tourist results that year.
“Days of Croatian Tourism is the central place for meetings, education, and the exchange of knowledge and experience, which generates more and more interest among those working in tourism, and the supporting industries,” Capelli said in Hvar, where he attended a session of the Hvar tourist board.
The event, scheduled to take place in October, will be hosted by Hvar, in honour of its celebration of 150 years of organised tourism in the picturesque town, also marked with a series of themed events in Hvar on May 10-15.
“We are working on improving the quality of the tourist offer, as well as revenues, and increasing investitors’ interest in Croatia, and in doing that, we are successfully putting it on the world map of tourist destinations,” Capelli said.
