Croatia's Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Gabrijela Zalac, is attending an international conference on women leaders which is taking place in Haifa and Jerusalem on May 28 - 31, the ministry said in a press release on Wednesday.

The conference, organised by Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation operating within the Israeli Foreign Ministry, is attended by women leaders from 46 countries, who exchanged their experiences in leadership positions.

Zalac said mutual support and empowerment of women across the world was important, calling for more active involvement of women in decision-making processes and taking up leadership roles.

It is important to honour the principle of gender equality and the cooperation between men and women in coping with increasingly complex challenges of modern life.

Zalac also visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Remembrance Centre and attended a reception given by President Reuven Rivlin.
