Economy Minister: PM not involved in Agrokor negotiations

Economy Minister Darko Horvat said on Monday he was not present at the meeting between Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Adris Group CEO Ante Vlahovic, adding he did not think the meeting meant Prime Minister was getting involved in the settlement negotiations in Agrokor.

“I do not look at that as any kind of meddling in the negotiations. The law leaves politicians with very little room for any kind of intervention. In this moment the settlement and the negotiation process is led by the crisis management, and I am certain we will have the final settlement agreement by the deadline defined by law,” Horvat said.

He added that the crisis manager in the administration procedure of Agrokor, Fabris Perusko, and his deputy Irena Weber, had his full support for the work they are doing.

Horvat said he did not know whether there were any written guarantees from Agram which would say the company was ready to agree to a settlement, but that the information given to the media by Dubravko Grgic, owner of some companies within the Agram group, was a very clear message.

Crisis manager Perusko said last Thursday that the temporary creditors’ council and the big creditors spoke last week on all the outstanding issues, and ultimately agreed on the settlement.

“The crisis management and the creditors are now working on the final text of the settlement agreement so that we can submit it to the temporary creditors’ council for approval as soon as possible,” he said, adding that the creditors’ support surpassed the necessary two-third majority.

He also said that the companies Agram, Alca, and Adris were “still standing in the way of the final settlement agreement.”

The Agram company is disputing guarantees, and the Alca and Adris companies are disputing the bond owners’ claims.

Perusko said on Thursday that Dubravko Grgic said in the name of Agram that he was prepared to agree to a deal offered by Agrokor’s future owners, and that talks with Alca representatives were ongoing.

Adris Group said that they would continue to insist on “the legality of the entire process and the equality of all creditors.”
