Zoran Mamic, brother of Dinamo boss Zdravko Mamic, tweeted a comment on the Wednesday court verdict which found him, his brother and two other co-defendants guilty for taking part in illegally diverting transfer fees while they served as executives at Dinamo Zagreb and tax evasion.

In the first instance verdict, he was sentenced to four years and 11 months in prison. None of the four co-defendants were present in the courtroom at the time of the verdict announcement.

In his comment, Mamic continued to insist that he is innocent, and announced he would appeal the verdict.

A former player who spent most of his career in Germany, Zoran Mamic was part of the Croatia squad which won third place in the 1998 World Cup, and after retiring went into coaching. From 2013 to 2016 he coached Dinamo, before moving to Saudi club Al Nassr in 2016 and later joining Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates in 2017, which he led to their 13th national league title in the 2017-18 season.
