The following two days will be mostly sunny, with some weather instability expected later in the week. On Monday, and especially on Tuesday, a wave of sweltering heat has been forecast.
On Monday, and especially on Tuesday – the day for which the state meteorological bureau had issued a heat wave warning – a moderate risk of heat wave is forecast in the areas in and around the cities of Osijek, Zagreb, and Karlovac. An anticyclone coming from the Mediterranean is likely to bring sunny weather with it.
Morning will be sunny with clear skies, with brief fog possible in some areas, along the river banks in the continental part of the country. The temperatures will be pleasantly warm, at around 20 degrees Celsius – with continental areas experiencing levels slightly below, and coastal areas slightly above that. Mountainous areas will be somewhat colder, in the morning, with 15 degrees Celsius expected, Dnevnik.hr reported on Sunday.
Monday afternoon will be sunny and hot in most of the country, with temperatures rising to 28-31 degrees. The only exception are the mountainous areas which may experience localised showers in the afternoon, at a temperature of 26-30 degrees.
Northern Adriatic will also be sweltering at around 30 degrees, with lots of sun and light south-westerly and southerly winds. Dalmatia will enjoy mostly clear weather, with temperatures around 30 degrees, with sea water temperature between 24 and 26 degrees. Since the skies will be clear, a high UV index is expected all over the country.
On Tuesday the sunny skies and southerly winds the temperatures are expected to go above 30 degrees in the continental parts of the country, even rising closer to 35 in some areas. When venturing outdoors, it is recommended to stay in the shade as much as possible and drink lots of liquid.
Seaside areas will also be hot and sunny on Tuesday, with southerly winds. If going to the beach, locations that aren’s facing south should be preferred. Later in the day the weather could worsen, with showers and thunderstorms expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Tuesday evening the weather is expected to worsen across the country, with showers and thunderstorms everywhere on Wednesday and Thursday, and temperatures dropping later in the week, bringing some respite from the sweltering heat.
