Traditional annual conference of Croatian entrepreneurs, organised by the Croatian Employers’ Association, was opened on Tuesday in Zagreb.

This year’s conference, held under the slogan New Opportunities for a New Decade, was attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, state broadcaster HRT reported.

Andrej Plenkovic talked about the state of economy in the country and the government’s activities, saying the trends were positive. The average pay went up by 500 kuna (€67.7) from 2016, he said, and added further tax reductions were planned.

“The second phase of the tax reform will begin on January 1, 2019. Tax rates will go down without risking state budget revenue.

Only in this year, some 60,000 new jobs were created,” he said.

He said the pension system reform would begin in September this year.

“The education reform will continue, and one billion kuna () will be invested in science,” he added.

A panel discussion on investment opportunities in Croatia is planned for Tuesday as well, after which Entrepreneurs of the Future awards will be given out to most successful secondary schools and students.
