The Guardian’s journalist Shaun Walker told N1 that he had to ask Luka Modric about Dinamo football club boss Zdravko Mamic’s verdict, sentencing him to 6.5 years in prison.

"There had already been a lot of questions about the football, tactics side of it and I just asked this because it is such an extraordinary story and seems like it must have some kind of effect on preparations when that is going on in the background. I was amazed nobody else had asked about it," Walker told N1.

During a press conference, Walker asked Luka Modric to comment on the verdict against Zdravko Mamic which provoked the Croatian footballer who was a witness in the Mamic trial and who could also be indicted for because he withdrew his testimony.

“Don’t u have nothing better to ask,” Modric responded, adding that the press conference was about the Russia World Cup, not something else.

Dinamo's boss was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison last week, along with three other people, on charges that he was damaging Dinamo and the Croatian budget.
