Croatian police arrested a British citizen on Thursday at Split Airport, who is suspected of murdering another Briton on Wednesday outside a night club at Zrce, a popular beach party resort on the northern Adriatic island of Pag.
“We have identified the person suspected of committing the murder at Zrce. The information (leading to his arrest) was released through our system, to all police stations, and the person was arrested at Split airport this morning,” Interior Minister, Davor Bozinovic, said, adding that the 25-year-old suspect was a British citizen.
Early on Wednesday morning, a number of foreign nationals clashed outside a night club at Zrce. One of them, a 26-year-old Briton, was knifed to death, while two other Britons – a 26-year-old and a 22-year-old – were wounded, one sustaining light and one severe injuries.
According to Croatian media speculations, the incident was drug-related.
A few years ago, British media outlets reported that alongside Spain’s Ibiza and Greece’s Mykonos, Croatia’s Pag island and its popular Zrce beach was one of the most desirable summer destinations for young people looking for night-long partying to the music of world famous DJs.
