Croatian State Attorney’s Office (DORH) unveiled the details of the murder of a British citizen, which took place the last week outside a nightclub at Zrce, a popular beach party resort on the northern Adriatic island of Pag.
Zadar’s County Court set one-month detention on Friday for 25-year-old Briton Douglas Cane, suspected of the murder of other British national, to prevent him from fleeing or attempting to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, there is a reasonable doubt the suspect committed the criminal offence on June 27 early morning, outside a nightclub in Novalja, with an aim to murder three men using a sharp tool by stabbing them several times. One man succumbed to injuries, while the other survived owing to urgent medical intervention. The third men suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
The suspect was arrested at the Split airport on Thursday, trying to flee the country. He had shaved his head in an attempt to disguise his identity, police earlier said.
