After the NATO summit which took place on July 11-12 in Brussels, Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic and US Secretary of Defence James Mattis, arrived in Zagreb together on Thursday.
Mattis, who arrived for an official two-day visit, and Krsticevic were welcomed with highest honours.
“This is the first time the US Secretary Mattis is visiting Croatia. His visit is a confirmation of excellent, friendly relations between Croatia and The United States of America, and we aim to improve our cooperation even further,” the press release from the Croatian Defence Ministry said.
The US Secretary Mattis will meet with the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic today, and tomorrow he will attend the special meeting of regional Defence Ministers, members of the US-Adriatic Charter, an association created in 2003 to aid southeast European countries in joining NATO.
Croatian Defence Minister Krsticevic and Montenegro Defence Minister Predrag Boskovic will chair the meeting.
