Annual inflation up to 2 percent in euro zone

Annual inflation rate in the European Union was 2 percent in June 2018, stable compared to May 2018, while the inflation rate in the euro zone inched up from 1.9 percent in May 2018 to 2.0 percent in June, Eurostat reported on Thursday.

The lowest annual rates were registered in Ireland, with 0.7 percent, Greece (1.0 percent), and Denmark (1.1 percent).

The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (4.7 percent), Estonia (3.9 percent), and Hungary (3.2 percent).

In June 2018, Croatia's inflation accelerated to 2.4 percent, compared with 1.9 percent the month before.

The highest contribution to the annual euro zone inflation rate in June 2018 came from energy (+0.76 percent), followed by services (+0.57 percent), food, alcohol and tobacco (+0.53 percent), and non-energy industrial goods (+0.10 percent).
