World Dance Day, celebrated on July 21, will be marked in Croatia's capital Zagreb on Saturday, with a silent disco event in the city centre.
The project, intended to celebrate shared humanity by bringing together people to dance in public, will be marked this year in 130 cities in 53 countries around the world.
Each city will host a silent disco party, which will see participants download a one-hour mp3 music mix and proceed to dance wearing headphones in public spaces.
In Zagreb, the event will kick off on Saturday at 11 am at the European Square in city centre. From there, the silent dancers will pass through Vlaska Street and the main square, and continue through Ilica Street towards the Flower Square and on towards the Zrinjevac park.
According to organisers’ Facebook page, the digital mixtape will include dance music mixed in with “peace creating instructions” such as handing out hi-fives, giving free hugs and starting playful dance circles.
They also announced that the event would be filmed and later edited into a global video showing the world dancing together as one.
