The Croatia Airlines is in a catastrophic situation, it is hardly surviving and will hardly survive with this strike, said aviation analyst Alen Scuric, commenting on the strike that the pilots, cabin crew and aircraft mechanics employed at this state-owned national flag carrier announced for the next week.
According to Scuric, the workers’ union were more than patient demanding their rights and negotiating on the collective agreement since 2016.
“They demand the rights and salary increase, which is normal after so much time. They ask that their collective agreements are signed for longer periods, not for a year. That shows they want stability,” the analyst told N1.
According to him, the workers have been put up against the wall after their demands were not met.
In his opinion, the strike will cause a chaos.
“It will be a chaos, a big chaos, not the small one. One third of flights must operate, they will be using big airplanes, but all airplanes are full in that period. (…) I’m not sure where could they find a free airplane. In that context, there will be a lot of problems,” he concluded.
Asked how much damage will this cause to the Croatia Airlines, Scuric said the strike will kill the company.
