Sarajevo Film Festival reveals Summer Screen Programme

SFF

Some top movies based on music and pop culture will be screened during the 24th Sarajevo Film Festival within the Summer Screen Programme, the organizers said on Tuesday.

The first one to be shown in the Summer Screen’s open air cinema is a documentary whose maker Sophie Fiennes follows the art-pop diva Grace Jones around the globe. Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami, is the film that includes unique performances of her iconic hits Slave to the Rhythm and Pull Up to the Bumper, as well as more recent autobiographical tracks like Williams’ Blood, This Is, and Hurricane.

The programme will close with the film Whitney, an achievement by Oscar Winner Kevin Macdonald, which shows some never-before-seen archival footage, exclusive demo recordings and rare performances by pop diva Whitney Houston.

Other films to be screened within the Summer Screen Programme are Matangi/Maya/M.I.A., Shut Up and Play the Piano, The Man Who Stole Banksy and The Summer.

This year’s edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival opens on August 10, with the screening of the Cold War, a movie by Polish filmmaker and Oscar winner Pawel Pawlikowski, and closes on August 17.
