Industry employment drops 1.1 pct on the year in June 2018

A total number of employees in the Croatian industrial sector in June 2018 dropped by 0.1 percent compared to May, and by 1.1 percent compared to June 2017, national statistics bureau (DZS) reported.

Employment in machinery and equipment repair and installation sector rose by the biggest percentage in June on the month, by 1.9 percent, followed by employment in beverages production sector, where employment rose by 1.6 percent on the month.

Employment in the tobacco production sector plunged by 14.3 percent month-on-month. On the other hand, it recorded the highest growth in employment on the year, by 22.1 percent, followed by metal production, by 6.4 percent, and other non-metal mineral products, by 5.1 percent.

Industry labour productivity in the first half of 2018 increased by 1.2 percent in comparison to the corresponding period in 2017.
