The chair of the Uljanik shipyard Supervisory Board, Renata Kasnjar-Putar, resigned from her post on Friday, the Pula-based shipyard said.

The company said that Kasnjar-Putar stepped down because possible solutions to the current situation in Uljanik are now not in the remit of the Supervisory Board and because the workers have demanded greater representation in the shipyard’s management bodies.

The strike at the shipyards of 3. Maj in Rijeka and Uljanik in Pula continued on Friday, with workers demanding that their salaries for July – due to be paid by August 15 – are paid out immediately.

Separate meetings with Uljanik group CEO Gianni Rossanda and Danko Koncar, owner of Kermas Energija, Uljanik’s potential strategic partner, were held at the government on Thursday.

Economy Minister Darko Horvat said after the meetings that neither Koncar nor the Uljanik management were currently offering a model that would provide for the payment of the late wage.
