As of summer 2019, Croatia will have a direct airline connection with the United States for the first time after 28 years, thanks to American Airlines launching scheduled flights between the southern city of Dubrovnik and Philadelphia.
The flights will operate three times a week, in the period from June through September of 2019, Dubrovnik Airport said.
The flights will launch on June 7, and the service will last until September 27, served by Boeing 767-300 aircraft, each with a capacity of more than 200 passengers. Dubrovnik Airport sees this deal with the US airline as a huge step forward for the southern Adriatic city, as well as for the entire country, given the increasing numbers of American tourists visiting the Dubrovnik area.
American Airlines is a member of the Oneworld global airline alliance. It has a staff of 122,000 and 955 planes which operate 6,700 flights daily to 350 destinations. Philadelphia is the company’s largest hub on the US East Coast, and its most important transfer airport for flights serving the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.
