Some 921,500 tourists visited Dubrovnik in the first eight months of 2018, which is a 6 percent increase compared to the same period last year, while overnight stays in the city passed the three million mark on the last day of August, five days earlier than last year, Dubrovnik tourist board said on Monday.
According to data from the national tourist information system eVisitor, from the beginning of 2018 to the end of August, 3.06 million overnight stays were recorded in Dubrovnik, which is a 4 percent increase compared to last year, the tourist board said.
The most tourists in Dubrovnik in that period came from the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, Croatia, Finland, and Norway.
In August alone, nearly 226,800 tourists came to Dubrovnik, 7 percent more than August 2017, generating some 807,500 overnight stays, 3 percent more than the same period last year, the tourist board said.
Almost 20,000 tourists are currently staying in Dubrovnik, they said, adding they expected the positive trends to continue even after the summer season ends, all the way until the end of the year.
