The value of construction work completed over the first six months of 2018 rose by 4.9 percent compared to the same period last year, while the value of new orders increased by 6.4 percent, the state statistics bureau said on Friday.
The data released by the bureau only includes companies with a minimum of 20 employees.
The total value of new construction orders in the first half of 2018 was 8.98 billion kuna (€1.2 billion), including 4.58 billion (€617.2 million) for buildings, and 4.40 billion (€593 million) for other types of projects, like roads, railways, pipelines, bridges, dams, sports venues, etc.
Total construction works completed were worth 10.5 billion kuna (€1.4 billion).
