Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Petre Daea is on a two-day visit to Croatia, and on Thursday he was accompanied by his Croatian counterpart, Tomislav Tolusic, on a tour of Istria's olive oil and wine producers, the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.

The ministers discussed the EU’s Common Agriculture Policy after 2020, cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine and food safety, and experiences in the field of market regulation and absorption of EU funds for agriculture.

The ministry said that Romania has made the greatest progress in implementing and absorbing EU funds in comparison to the preceding financial period and as such, after two programme periods now, it can constructively contribute to the debate of the future Common Agriculture Policy.

This year Croatia, Romania, and Finland have intensified their cooperation ahead of their chairmanships of the Council of the EU. They constitute a trio that will determine long-term objectives and prepare a joint working programme that will identify the topics and main issues that the Council will deal with over a period of 18 months, the ministry said.
