In August 2018, the volume of construction work in Croatia was 10 percent up from August 2017, preliminary figures released by the state statistics bureau on Tuesday showed.
Preliminary seasonally and working-day adjusted data show that the volume of construction work in August was 1.8 percent up month-on-month.
Year-on-year, the volume of construction work on buildings was up 16 percent while the volume of construction work on other structures – a category which includes roads, railroads, bridges, dams, etc – increased by 2.3 percent.
In addition, nearly 56 percent of all construction work in August was done in new construction sites, with the remaining 44 percent in reconstructions, maintenance, and renovations.
Over the eight-month period from January to August 2018, the total construction activities in the country rose by 4.5 percent year-on-year in terms of volume, with works on buildings up by 11.9 percent, while works on infrastructure projects dropped by 5.3 percent.
