Bosnia: Sarajevo cooks break Guinness World Record

Sarajevo cooks broke on Friday the Guinness World Record when they made 14,186 pancakes within eight hours.

The event was part of the Sarajevo Tourism Fair and was organized by the Association of Cooks of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a local pancake fan club.

The former record was set last year in Moscow, when 12,716 pancakes were served within seven hours and 22 minutes.

It took Sarajevans that amount of time to prepare 12,874 pancakes but they continued to prepare them for the prescribed time of eight hours.

“We wanted to draw attention to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its new generation of cooks, although it has to be added that this would not have been possible without the help of the older colleagues and those who came from abroad,” the head of the Association of Cooks, Nermin Hodzic, said.

Members of the humanitarian organization Pomozi.ba distributed the pancakes to poor children, old people’s homes, orphanages and migrants stuck in Bosnia on their way to the EU.

Sarajevo’s Tourism Fair started on October 24 and offers 70 local and foreign exhibitors to show tourism agencies their potentials.
