In 2018, as many as 58.5 million vehicles passed through Croatian motorways, or 5 percent up from 2017, with toll revenues totalling 2.87 billion kuna (€387 million) without VAT, or up by 6 percent year-on-year.

The data refers to roads operated by the state motorway company HAC and the Rijeka-Zagreb Motorway (ARZ), which control some 1,100 out of nearly 1,300 kilometres in the country’s motorway network.

The 5 percent increase in the number of vehicles recorded means that in 2018 the motorways run by HAC and ARZ have recorded some 3 million vehicles more than in 2017.

The 307-kilometre long A3 motorway which connects the capital of Zagreb and the eastern town of Tovarnik on the border with Serbia, was the best earner, bringing in 947 million kuna (€128 million) in tolls in 2018.
