Croatia will present the Voluntary National Review for the first time at the UN today, showing the activities and results of the implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with examples of good practice by the business community, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) said on Tuesday.

The review, prepared by the HGK, will be presented at a meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, meeting under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council.

The review sums up our society from the economic, social and environmental aspects, HGK president Luka Burilovic said.

“It will show the progress we have achieved in some of the most important areas such as economic development, dignified work, health and education, and show us what we need to work on so as to meet the set goals,” he added.

Burilovic recalled that Croatia ranked 22nd in the UN’s last statistical review of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.

The Voluntary National Review is drawn up alongside the National Development Strategy until 2030, the HGK said.

In order to achieve the goals set out in the strategy, Croatia will focus on the advancement of institutional organisation, the strengthening of national statistical capacities, and the implementation of information and educational activities with a view to raising awareness of the importance of sustainable development on the national and global levels, it added.
