Finance Minister Zdravko Maric said on Friday that a set of proposed amendments to tax legislation would soon be put to a month-long public consultation as part of the ongoing tax reform, with the emphasis on tax breaks for young people.

Maric recalled that the government had proposed to scrap income tax for people of up to 25 years of age and cut it by half for people aged between 25 to 30. He said that these proposals were also important demography-wise.

Furthermore, the 12% threshold for profit tax will be raised from the current HRK 3 million to HRK 7.5 million. This measure will positively impact 92% of entrepreneurs, Maric said while presenting the measures at a round table in the northeastern town of Koprivnica, organised by the Vecernji List daily.

During the discussion, executives of some large companies welcomed the current course of the tax reform.
