Inspector-General Andrija Mikulic said on Tuesday that while filling in his declaration of assets he made an unintentional mistake, failing to declare close to 700 square metres of his property on the island of Krk and that after he was warned about it, he launched a procedure to amend his declaration of assets.

The RTL broadcaster’s Potraga programme discovered that Mikulic, a member of the ruling HDZ party, has stated in his declaration of assets ownership of a house with a yard covering an area of 180 square metres but that an inspection of land books showed that the property measured 867 square metres.

Mikulic explained in a statement that when declaring the property’s area, he thought that he had to declare exclusively the area and value of the housing unit.

“It was not my intention to hide anything or mislead anyone, as evidenced by the report which declares the financial value of all of my property, including the total value of the inherited real estate and land,” Mikulic said, adding that he had already launched a procedure to amend his declaration of assets.
