Seven men suspected of assaulting Serbs in a cafe in Uzdolje, a village near Knin in late August, will be placed back in custody in line with a decision overruling a decision by the investigating judge in the case under which the suspects were released pending further proceedings, Hina learned from sources at the Sibenik County Court.

“A panel of judges has changed the decision by the investigating judge and extended investigative custody for all seven men for two more months,” court spokesman Branko Ivic said.

The seven men, suspected of physically attacking the owner and guests of a cafe in Uzdolje, were released from custody in late October pending further proceedings and with the court having imposed precautionary measures.

Members of a sport fans’ group, the suspects on August 21 set out from Split in cars to Uzdolje, where they got together with a group of previously reported persons in order to go to the local cafe, aware that guests at the cafe were watching a football match between the Serbian football club Crvena Zvezda and the Swiss football club Young Boys.

Wearing ski masks, the suspects entered the cafe where they first verbally assaulted the owner and guests, and then started destroying the interior of the establishment with clubs, after which they attacked the guests, of whom five, including a minor, sustained light injuries.
