European Union member states strongly support a multilateral approach and want the modernisation of the World Trade Organisation to ensure open and fair trade, Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman said in Brussels on Thursday.
He took part in a Foreign Affairs Council meeting on trade at which the ministers discussed the state of negotiations on WTO reform and preparations for a WTO ministerial conference in Kazakhstan in June 2020.
“We had a very constructive and open debate. Nearly all participants showed willingness and support for multilateralism. The WTO is an organisation we care about and which should regulate open and fair trade.”
He said that as the Council of the EU chair in the first half of 2020, Croatia would try to contribute to the success of the Kazakhstan conference.
