The City of Zagreb's emergency management bureau issued a warning on Wednesday morning telling residents to brace for gale-force winds expected to hit the city during the day. With wind speeds expected to reach 155 kilometres per hour, some traffic disruption is likely, and residents are advised to be "extra cautious" when venturing outdoors, due to possible felled trees or roof tiling.
Other parts of Croatia also saw rough weather this week. A hurricane storm, churning up waves several metres high, disrupted road traffic along the Adriatic coast for the second day in a row on Wednesday, with all catamaran lines and several ferry routes in central Dalmatia cancelled.
The weather on the Adriatic coast and in the north of the country is expected to ease by Thursday.
