Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Sunday that the government was willing to provide outgoing President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic with an office at a state residence in Zagreb and that he would gladly, if she expressed such a wish, welcome her back to the HDZ party.
Grabar-Kitarovic has the right to an office of the former president after her five-year term expires on February 18.
“The government will provide an appropriate space for the president of the republic. If the location in (Zagreb’s) Visoka Street is chosen, we are ready to adapt and equip the necessary offices,” Plenkovic told Croatian reporters covering his visit to Munich.
The HDZ leader added that Grabar-Kitarovic was free to return to the party which she had to leave according to the law when she was elected president in 2015.
“That’s up to her. Whenever she decides to return, the party will gladly welcome her back,” said Plenkovic, who attended an international security conference in Munich.
