Montenegro has decided that no more than one person can be in one public space and the new restriction, introduced to slow the spread of coronavirus, does not apply for children under 12.

The confinement measures have been tightened since a larger number of citizens was seen in the streets of urban areas in the past few days, despite the authorities’ measures of social distancing aimed at curbing the spread of this infectious disease.

The new restrictions take effect on Thursday.

In the last 24 hours, there have been eight new infections with the novel virus in Montenegro, whereas 315 have been tested, the health authorities said on Wednesday.

Since the outbreak of the disease on 17 March, a total of 249 Montenegrins have tested positive for the virus, two of which have died to date.
