Bosnia has seen a new spike in coronavirus infection with another daily record of 172 confirmed cases, 101 in the Federation (FBiH) and 71 in Republika Srpska (RS), the healthcare authorities of the two semi-autonomous regions confirmed on Saturday. Both parts of the country also confirmed two coronavirus-related fatalities each.
According to the official statistics, the country’s coronavirus tally now stands at 4,107 with the death toll increasing to180.
The FBiH has continued the mass testing on its territory and has performed 1,080 lab tests over the last 24 hours, 52,748 since the epidemic outbreak.
Of 101 confirmed infections since Friday, 50 were reported in the southern town Stolac, with most of the new patients being related to a company that recently reported the coronavirus infection. The whole region has so far confirmed 1,920 Covid-19 patients and 53 fatalities, one since Thursday.
To date, 1,022 patients have recovered in the FBiH.
The RS healthcare authorities have performed 435 coronavirus tests since the last update on Friday, and 36,102 in total.
The region has so far confirmed 2,161 patients, 71 in the last 24 hours. The total of 1,307 have recovered to date and 122 died due to Covid-19, one in the last 24 hours.
Brcko District, a separate administrative unit in the north, has confirmed the total of 26 infections to date, of whom 16 have recovered and five have died.
