Some 1.6 million tourists visited Croatia over the first six months of 2020, generating 7.6 million overnight stays, which is about 70 percent down from the same period in 2019, the national tourist board HTZ said on Wednesday.
In June alone, 892,000 visitors were registered in Croatia, and they made 4.8 million overnight stays, which is equivalent to 32 percent of overnight stays in June 2019, the HTZ director, Kristjan Stanicic, said on Wednesday.
“Taking into consideration the current circumstances in the whole world and Croatia, we can be satisfied,” said Stanicic.
The numbers also include domestic tourists, who accounted for 31 percent of overnight stays in the first half of 2020.
Over those six months, foreign guests accounted for 69 percent of all overnight stays. Slovenians ranked first, accounting for 26 percent of overnights stays, followed by Germans (25 percent), and Austrians, Bosnians, and Czechs (7 percent each).
