Opposition Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MPs started collecting signatures for calling an extraordinary Parliament session about the agreement Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti signed at the White House after meetings with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, requesting a full report about the topics and responsibilities Hoti undertook last week in Washington.

The PDK accused the state delegation headed by Hoti of “getting out of the talks about a final and legally binding agreement and discussing technical issues instead.”

“The talks about the territories and Kosovo national wealth are unconstitutional and against the country’s strategic interests. PDK thinks that a mini-Schengen regime accepted by the state delegation is useless. PDK is in favour of Schengen, not a mini-Schengen regime,” the PDK added.

The largest opposition party Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination), led by former Prime Minister Albin Kurti, also said it had demanded a Parliament session about the agreement Hoti signed at the White House on September 4.

Analysts have warned that Hoti’s Government with its tiny majority in the Parliament and strong national opposition may lead to serious political instability in Kosovo, regardless Prime Minister’s daily statements about any deal with Belgrade must end in mutual recognition what the opposition also sees as the only possible outcome.
