Montenegrin health authorities called on the people on Friday to adhere to epidemiological measures and ordered stepping up inspections so as to avoid the reintroduction of restrictions.
After a parliamentary election on August 30, the number of coronavirus cases in the country has surged, with 287 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants at the moment, the highest ratio in the region.
Since mid-March, when the first case was confirmed, 6,385 citizens have tested positive for the virus, which is more than 1% of the country’s population of 620,000.
Over the past 24 hours, 617 tests have been done, with 163 turning out positive.
The Covid-19 death toll since mid-June stands at 106 and 115 since the start of the year. The number of active cases is 1,810, the Public Health Institute said.
