In the last 24 hours, 2,893 tests for coronavirus have been performed in Slovenia and 227 have returned positive, the government said in a press release on Saturday morning.
Currently, there are COVID 94 patients in hospitals, eight more than the day before, and 15 of them are in intensive care wards.
Since the outbreak of the infection in Slovenia, 5,917 people have tested positive, and there have been 151 COVID-related deaths to date.
Slovenia’s authorities have said in several latest comments that the situation is serious but not dramatic.
The government’s spokesman Jelko Kacin has presented some figures showing that in the terms of the new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week, Slovenia currently fares better than its neighbours Austria and Hungary but is worse than Croatia or Italy.
