The head of the KBC Zagreb hospital, Ante Corusic, said on Sunday evening that 11 patients in the hospital were positive for the coronavirus and that they had entered the hospital through its emergency service.
Corusic said that eight doctors and 10 nurses had also tested positive for the virus, while 28 doctors and 50 nurses were in self-isolation.
He said that the situation was not unexpected as KBC Zagreb had 5,800 employees.
The hospital is functioning normally and it is not a hotspot, Corusic said, adding that he had informed the Public Health Institute about the situation.
It is impossible to say with precision how the virus had entered the hospital, since all 11 infected patients had tested negative for the coronavirus upon admission.
Asked if the outbreak of the disease had caused delays in examinations and surgeries, Corusic stressed that all procedures were carried out as planned.
