Independent MP Bojan Glavasevic said on Thursday he would like to look the latest war crimes suspects in the eye to see if they repented for what they did and so that they could see the face of their defeat.

There is no statute of limitations on war crimes and so it should be always, he told the press.

“I don’t know how it could happen that these people have been living in Croatia all these years. I worked at the Veterans Ministry. I’m somewhat familiar with the problems in investigating war crimes. I have no reason to doubt the difficulties which certainly existed until these arrests,” he said, adding that this was very difficult to talk about.

His father Sinisa Glavasevic, a Vukovar Radio reporter, was killed at Ovcara in 1991 after the fall of the eastern town of Vukovar.

Those who were killed live in us, while the criminals are doomed to the curse of remembering, said Glavasevic.

“Vlado Gotovac said that those who kill the children of others have no children, that those who destroy the homes of others have no home and that they will die in the desolation of their dead heart… They are the only ones to blame for that,” he added.
