Split-Dalmatia County has registered a record number of 160 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours and the head of the public health institute in that county, Zeljka Karin, claims that if everyone was to be tested, that number would be five times higher.
“If everyone was to be tested, the number of people infected would be far greater, certainly five times more,” Karin said at an extraordinary press conference in the wake of the record number of infections in that county.
She added that in the past 24 hours 916 people were tested and 160 proved positive to coronavirus while another five cases were tested elsewhere.
Karin added that the highest number of infections, 63, were registered in Split.
She underscored that a total of 31 health staff in the county were infected while 14 are in self-isolation.
Karin warned that finding contacts is becoming more and more difficult, which is why she is counting on assistance from other epidemiologists, physicians and other health personnel.
She also noted that many of those infected do not have any symptoms.
