In the past 24 hours 1,176 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Slovenia, after 4,587 tests, and 24 COVID-19 patients have died, the government said on Tuesday.
On Monday, 557 new cases were confirmed, with fewer tests done, and 25 fatalities.
Currently 925 COVID patients are hospitalised, including 146 in intensive care, according to Health Ministry data. This was up from 868 and 135 respectively on Monday. There are over 23,000 active cases.
In the past 24 hours 25.6% of those tested have been positive. Data from the past two weeks show that the number of new infections keeps rising but not at the previous pace, which is encouraging, the government’s COVID spokesman, Jelko Kacin, said at a press conference.
Since the start of the epidemic, Slovenia has confirmed over 36,000 cases of the novel virus.
