The opposition Civic and Liberal Alliance (GLAS) on Tuesday condemned the decision to lift restrictions on public gatherings of more than 50 people for the Vukovar Remembrance Day Procession, saying that the government was honouring the war victims by putting the health and lives of the town's residents at risk.
The national coronavirus response team and the government continue to impose epidemiological measures “discriminately, hypocritically and extremely dangerously” as shown by the latest decision to lift restrictions on public gatherings of more than 50 people solely for the Remembrance Procession in Vukovar, the party said in a statement.
In a situation when we have thousands of people infected daily and our hospital system is facing collapse, the government and the response team make an exception to the rule for a gathering that is expected to be attended by thousands of people, GLAS warned.
The last thing the people of Vukovar now need is more dead and infected people, it concluded.
