The Croatian public broadcaster HRT has lost a case brought against the head of the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) and HRT editor Hrvoje Zovko, the HND announced on Friday.
The HRT sued Zovko before Zagreb Municipal Court over his statements about censorship at the HRT, seeking HRK 250,000 (€33,300) in damages.
The court threw out the lawsuit ordering the HRT to compensate Zovko for litigation costs in the amount of HRK 19,375 (€2,580).
Commenting on the court ruling, which is subject to appeal, Zovko told Hina that he had claimed all along that the truth was on his side.
“I will repeat that this is the third court case against me that the HRT has lost, and the struggle continues. I will continue to advocate causes that I think are right,” Zovko said.
He said that this ruling meant a lot to him and to all those who had spoken before him about what was going on at the HRT.
According to the HND statement, the court accepted witness statements and the statement by Zovko as “credible and honest”.
